Eastchester Fire District responded to 312 calls for February 2023, including 189 EMS/Rescue calls.

Fire Safety - E-Bike and E-Scooter Safety Tips 

Electric bicycles and electric scooters, or e-bikes and e-scooters, are more popular than ever. These devices give riders a lower-cost and environmentally friendly way of getting around. But, unknown to many users, the batteries that power e-bikes and e-scooters have also been known to catch on fire and cause explosions. *

The Eastchester Fire District reminds its residents to use caution and lower the risk of fires by reviewing this Safety Tip Sheet.

Iona University Nursing - Simulation

Eastchester Fire District collaborated with Iona University nursing students to participate in a simulated fire exercise on March 9. Designed to provide nursing students with multi-agency mass casualty training, over 25 members of the Eastchester Fire Department and Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corps took part in the scenario, simulating a building fire featuring actors playing victims with life-threatening injuries.

The exercise took place on Iona’s new Bronxville campus and included fire alarms, smoke machines that produced non-toxic smoke, and other tools to make the exercise feel as real as possible and help members prepare for future emergencies.

Spring Academy - 2023 

Eastchester Fire District will be sending five probationary firefighters to the Westchester County Career Fire Chief's Academy, which is set to start on March 21st, 2023. We wish them the very best with their upcoming training!

New Firefighters: "The Eastchester Fire Department recently hired four new firefighters. Two of the four men were from the volunteer ranks. Also three of the four have a family tradition in the fire service. Of the four Kevin Grogan has his father Joseph and a brother Michael both of which are professional members of the EFD, George Glover whose father George Sr. is a professional Captain with the EFD, and Joseph Fiorello whose father Pat is a Captain with our neighbors up in Scarsdale as a Professional Captain. There is last but not least Paul Ranellone whose service to the Town as a volunteer member of the Tuckahoe Hose Company is exemplary.
