Fire Chief's Message

We are excited to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week (FPW) this October. This year's theme is Fire Won't Wait. Plan Your Escape. Knowing what to do if a fire breaks out in your home is essential before a fire occurs. During FPW, from October 9 to October 15, we will be sharing simple but essential actions you can take to keep you and your loved ones safe from home fires. I encourage you to learn more by visiting our website here.

Last month, we responded to 332 calls for Emergency Services - 165 of those calls being EMS-related events. The hours of training and preparation continue to show through on the scenes of the emergencies we handle daily, and I remain confident in the effort the members of the Department put into their profession. You may view our Monthly Activity reports here.

I wish to congratulate the members who were promoted or received a commendation at the Promotional and Award Ceremony on September 27 at Eastchester Town Hall. Our members are proud to provide a tradition of excellent public safety service to the residents of the Eastchester Fire District.

In closing, I wish to remember retired Firefighter Lawrence Mignone, badge #100, who passed away on September 27, 2022. He was appointed to the Career staff on July 14, 1979 and retired on July 24, 2009 after more than 30 years of service to the Fire District.

Respectfully Yours in Service,

Brian Tween
